Braces Overview

Braces Overview

Once the diagnostic records have been taken, Dr. Mosery will diagnose and plan your treatment. We will select the appropriate prescription for your braces to maximize efficiency and the final outcome. Our assistants will then polish your teeth, and prepare them for the braces to be adhered. Dr. Mosery will precisely place your braces on each tooth. We may also add bite ramps or “turbos” to help correct your bite. You may also be prescribed elastics to correct your bite. Our staff will place your initial wire, which is very flexible and gentle to begin slowly aligning your teeth. Each patient is given detailed hygiene and care instructions to assure proper care is taken while at home.

Braces take a few days to get used to. It is normal for your bite to feel different, and for your teeth to feel sore for the first couple of days.

Our follow up visits are typically 8-10 weeks after your initial appointment. In follow up visits, we evaluate your progress and adjust anything as needed. We usually change the wires to continue aligning and perfecting your teeth. Midway through your treatment we will take progress X-rays and photos. This will allow Dr. Mosery to further refine the position of your teeth if needed by changing the position of some braces. Towards the end of your treatment we will focus on the fine details of your teeth and smile.

As soon as your teeth are ideally aligned, looking great, and your bite is functional, your braces are easily removed. Dr. Mosery will polish your teeth, and do any necessary esthetic improvements such as bonding or recontouring at your request. This will give your smile that extra level of detail and perfection. Then, an assistant will polish and prepare your teeth for your fixed retainer. Dr. Mosery will place your fixed retainers behind your top and bottom front teeth to maintain your beautiful new smile for years to come. These retainers are made of 18 karat white gold, and are not visible from the outside. A night time retainer will be made from a 3D printed model, which you will receive. Our talented assistant will review proper hygiene and care of your new retainers. Nightly retainer wear is essential for your successful outcome to last a lifetime.
